Why don’t you ...? 向别人提出建议时的习惯用语， 表示“……做， 你看怎样？”、 “何不……”。虽
然它是一个疑问句， 但是这里并非在问对方“为什么”， 这一点请注意。try 指“尝试”、 “试一试”。

带领别人参观到一半时， 可以这么询问对方的感受。so far “迄今为止”、 “到目前”。

know ... by sight “见过”、 “知道长什么样”。

hardly “几乎不”。

我只听说过他的名字。

by name “在名字上”。
